Torq is an independent, integrated logistics and midstream company operating multi-product rail terminals, storage, and rail logistics across Western Canada.

With roots stretching back more than 60 years to Goulet Trucking, Torq has grown into one of Western Canada's most comprehensive energy logistics platforms. Today we operate 9 strategically located rail terminals and a fully integrated service offering that connects producers to markets through transloading, storage, and rail logistics.

Our independently owned and operated platform handles more than 20 commodity types, from crude oil and agriculture products, condensate to frac sand, refined fuels, chemicals, LPGs, and wood products. We combine decades of operational experience with an unwavering commitment to safety, reliability, and customer service.

Our History

Over 60 years of growth and evolution in Western Canadian logistics

1960

Goulet Trucking begins operations, establishing the roots of what would become one of Western Canada's leading logistics companies.

1978

Desran Holdings is formed, expanding the trucking operations and building a stronger presence in the Western Canadian oilfield services market.

1991

TH Vac is established, adding vacuum truck services to the growing portfolio of oilfield and industrial service capabilities.

1997

Larson Management is formed, further broadening the operational scope and management expertise across the organization.

2011

The Goulet, Desran, and Larson entities are acquired under new ownership, and Torq Transloading is started to enter the rail logistics market.

2012

First rail terminals opened, marking Torq's entry into multi-product transloading with crude oil operations launching across key Western Canadian locations.

2013

The Instow terminal in Saskatchewan is opened, expanding the rail network and adding capacity for crude oil and condensate transloading.

2014

KKR acquires a significant interest in the company, providing capital and strategic support to accelerate growth across the terminal and trucking platforms.

2015

TH Vac Services is acquired and integrated into the Torq platform, significantly expanding vacuum truck and environmental services capabilities.

2016

Commodity diversification begins with the addition of frac sand and condensate handling, reducing reliance on a single product line.

2018

Shareholders complete a management buyback, returning the company to independent ownership. The Buick Creek terminal in British Columbia is opened.

2019

LPG (liquefied petroleum gas) handling capabilities are added to the terminal network, further broadening the product portfolio.

2020

Refined products including gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel are added to the transloading operations, serving downstream fuel distribution markets.

2021

Agriculture and potash transloading is introduced, opening new revenue streams and connecting prairie producers to rail export markets.

2022

Wood products transloading is launched, and the Unity terminal undergoes a major expansion to become the flagship dual-connected CN/CP facility with 800+ acres.

2024

Buffalo Rail & Infrastructure Corp., a Torq sister company, acquires the former Canfor pulp mill in Taylor, BC — a 350-acre site being developed into a world-scale, unit-train-capable industrial logistics hub serving northeast BC's energy sector.

2026

Sale of Trucking division to Linkson Oilfield Services.
